London, 20 March 2007
Independent Virtual Network Operator (VNO), mnet, today officially announces its change of name to adapt. The re-brand marks an aggressive and ambitious new phase for the VNO in the UK which is fulfilling the needs of organisations being underserved by traditional operators and responding to the changing requirements of telecoms purchasers.
adapt was part of the Margolis Group, an office solutions provider, however, its rapid growth soon saw the need for it to expand beyond the constraints of the Group and a management buyout followed in 2006.
adapt has been operating in the UK since 2001 and with annual growth rates of over 50% from organic sales alone, it’s the fastest growing VNO in the UK. By using the VNO model the company has already built a solid reputation with over 450 customers, including JP Morgan Cazenove, Rightmove.co.uk, Serco, Initial City Link, Salans and RNID. With continued sustained growth to an established customer base, and new ambitious plans for acquisition, adapt is ideally positioned to advance its growth rate and has ambitions plans to become one of the UK’s largest VNO’s.
“It is clear that the market is changing drastically and companies are tired of being short-changed by telcos; last year Cable and Wireless abandoned a large number of its customers to focus on its ‘biggest’ customers,” explains Peter Knight, CEO, adapt. “We believe customers are changing the way in which they buy telecoms and are demanding a better level of service. By acting as a negotiator on behalf of our customers, we are able to provide tailored services using multiple suppliers. We then strictly monitor and manage these suppliers on our customers behalf.”
Unlike traditional network operators, VNOs are not restricted to providing services based upon their own fixed assets. Using the assets of multiple carriers, adapt is free to advise on the most suitable network and technology partners, delivering the best choice for each customer depending on their unique requirements.
“Companies that feel ill-served by traditional telcos should not have to put up with a poor level of service, inflexible terms and restrictive pricing when the VNO can consult on behalf of the customer on terms that they can control,” adds Knight. “adapt remains independent as a VNO, offering initial choice to its customers, but also the ability to adapt to changes, new technologies and alternate suppliers as they develop.”
adapt accredits and partners with many leading providers to deliver an extensive range of services - flexible and secure end-to-end managed networks, supported by advanced co-location services and converged application solutions (such as voice and video over IP). These accredited partners include British Telecom, COLT, Global Crossing, Level 3, Neos and NTL Telewest Group. In addition to their accredited partners, adapt has an extensive knowledge base of suppliers and can provide many of these services in 230 countries worldwide.
“We are seeing the beginnings of a complete change in the way customers are buying telecoms and we are determined to lead the charge,” concludes Knight. “adapt seemed the perfect choice of name for us – providing our customers with the ability to adapt or change solutions really is key to taking the third party management pain away from the IT department.”
